dalmatin13
Hi Folks, what type of white sand do you buy for your reef tanks? I want it to be always pure (if it is possible). Should I buy fine sand or not? thanks
Paratore
It depends on what type of coral you want to keep. SPS require a lot of flow and as a result your sand could blow all over if it's to fine. Do you have an idea of the type of coral you want to keep? milesmiles902
Personally, I have had troubles with fine sand. Whenever I use fine sand, I always notice detritus forming in low current locations and it bothers me. If I try to increase the current, all the sand gets tossed around. As a general rule of thumb, I think choose a sand for the type of corals you want, or the current they prefer.
