union support

Hey if you or a family member is in a union. Please help me in supporting my union brothers. I work in Local 324 and the boys/girls from Western Beverage are on strike........ they are trying to take their pension plan away along with their insurance. Also trying to hire replacement workers.

So if you would please not buy any of these products from:

Anheuser-Busch

Bacardi Silver

Widmer Bros.

Redhook Ale Brews

Kona Brrewing Co.

...........as these are the products that are shipped out this warehouse.

Help show support EVEN if you don't agree with unions. As they are breaking a contract with their workers. This isn't a new contract this is trying to eliminate the existing one.

Thanks

Breaking a contract with union members is bad business. And taking a pension program away from people that it was promised to is WRONG! I hope that the strike is settled quickly, and that you keep the benefits that are in your contract!

I think this strike started the Friday before the 4th of July. I really thought they would have the new contract solved by now. I know a lot of great guys that work for Western Bev. They have lost a few good ones already.

Are you sure that is true? I can't find anything that states they are breaking a contract. This article states that the contract ended in March.

http://nottheoregonianunionnews.blogspot.com/2007/07/teamsters-strike-western-beverage.html

"The company began holding contract talks with union representatives last December, and the contract expired at the end of March. Union employees continued working under the terms of the old contract until this week, when the company announced an impasse and stated its intention to implement its final offer beginning July 1. No further meetings are currently scheduled."

Theron you are right and I'm wrong I misunderstood when it was told to me. Yes they came out in their negotiations and wanted to take away health care. When that was voted down and the members went on strike they then took away the pension plan.

There is one last chance that something can be worked out and that is on Monday. We will see.

This effects people from Salem to Roseburg and along the coast as well.

Sorry for the misleading info to start with.
