fishboys
These questions are about which Bulbs some of you might use. I decided I am going to use a light fixture I already have. It's 38" long and 10" wide. It has two single ended 175 watt halide bulb fixtures plus two 36" T12 VHO's . I posted here earlier that they were 250 W sure glad I didn't order the bulbs at that point. My tank is 35" x 18" x 18". The old bulbs I pulled out of the fixture were als sunburst tru 12K. So I just am not sure which ones I should use, the 12k 14k 20k . The T12 VHO should be easier but if any of you have any input I am all ears.
Saltwater newbie
It is all a preference I like 20 but I like a more blue tank.
fishboys
Does the 20k grow as well as the lower ones? I assume the T12 will make up for whatever the 20K's are lacking. Thank you for your help on this.
Saltwater newbie
In my opinion 14k you will get better growth but better color with 20k.
fishboys
Since its a double fixture would there be an advantage to using one of each?
Blue Z Reef
Check these out: http://www.4fishies.com/Reef-Brite-Twin-Arc-Metal-Halide-Lamp-175w-Mogul.html?utm_source=google-shopping&utm_medium=organic Just have your timer shut them down for 10 mins mid day and back on and you go from 10k to 20k, best of both worlds

BoringDave
I don't think I would go past 14k personally since there is also 2 VHO's. Back when I had halides I used XM 20k with no supplement tubes. They were really blue by them selves. Are you sure you want to use them? It won't take very many times changing the bulbs at $60ea to offset the cost of LED's. Also can you still get T-12 VHO?
