reefnjunkie Posted February 11, 2015 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Well since the last thread I opened I closed and can't reopen it- (maybe it's a member perk I don't know insert smiley) Anyway of the 12 acans I was a grower for that the following bought in on; Robert Pete Jose Jeremy Matt Jesse I fragged 7 of the 12 tonight. Of the 5 that are left I would say one can be fragged and the other 4 really should wait. You all may remember me mentioning how they were initially fragged in a way that would make them tough to frag since the new growth wasn't flat but rather down the side of an acan. Anyway I think fragging went well the frags have anywhere to 1 polyp on some groups while other groups have 2-4. I'm only interested in 5 out of the 12 we got since my collection has gotten out of hand and I've become quite the acan snob-at one point these were collectible for me but that was about 130 acans ago ( insert smiley) In all honesty the last 3 we got from All Delight for the Colin fundraiser are very nice and over the year I've become pretty good friends (Internet bros) with All Delight and he and I've traded many times over so I've aquired those 3 and about 30 others (insert another smiley) So back to the 5 I have left, one of which I'll probably frag for you guys tomorrow(don't insert smiley) which leaves 4-Id rather not be the grower any longer but since I started this GO I will continue if nobody want s to take over but please feel free to volunteer (insert smiley) I may post pics of the few that are left and ya'll have my cell number so feel free to text me and we can arrange pick up. Robert I have your Honey Cocaine from the other GO it's up to 5 heads now, and I also have the perfect storm that's ready to go. reefnjunkie Posted February 12, 2015 Author Share Posted February 12, 2015 So I moved all the frags back to the frag tank, last night they chilled in the overflow box. I didn't want to move them again after fragging and once they fargged I placed them in the box as it was easiest. They look pretty good with just a few that are butchered. Trying to cut 5-6 even frags from a piece that has between 10-20 heads but isn't any larger than 2.5" isn't easy especially with not every polyp having the skeletal structure needed to cut let alone cut even numbers-hense the butcher comment, just glad I own a Gryphon You/we all should come up with some game plan or ideas how to distribute who gets what. Of the ones I want I cut a single polyp and in the end Im sure everyone will be happy. I think we paid 150-180 ( Honestly I forget) for 12 acans which works out to be roughly 15.00 per frag which is pretty good IMO. Anyway I'll post some pics this weekend (right, yea I will huh- LOL) since I think it's best to let these frags heal at least two weeks. I'm sure my wife wouldnt mind 5 reef nuts doing a lottery draft for frags one weekend ( insert wife smacking husbands head smiley) More to come..... It is funny you post this becuase I was just thinking about these the other day wondering how the frags are doing for you guys.... Still 4 more to cut up and then we can wrap this up. I'll be setting up 2 new frag tanks that will be independent from the rest of the system-just a real basic setup, sump skimmer and that's it. I plan to move all the acans I have to the new system and I know they will love it. reefnjunkie Posted November 19, 2015 Author Share Posted November 19, 2015 Ive fragged what I had left- of the 5 pieces that were left one melted out of the blue that left 4. Odly, Ive on average had a frag melt happen about every 14 -21 days, not sure why but it has happened which was all the more reason to get this done.I fragged the 4 I had left this sunday and cut 6 frags except one I only could do 5. As of today 1 out of the group of 6 had turned to jelly, and then 1 out of the group of 5 jellied.I didn't cut myself any frags do I cant replace the ones that melted down the road. I think its best I assign numbers to each of you and do a random draw for the ones that are short. Most of these frags have between 2,3 as many as 5 heads-just FYIAnyone doing that bus trip this Saturday let me now, Robert I know you are and will take your pieces to Jeffs.Unrelated, Jeremy I think you do IT here, the format for adding additional recipients should be looked at, no auto suggestion pops up so I don't even know if everyone I think im sending this to will get it Glad to put this to rest as Im sure you all are-thank you for not "junkie" on me I tried sending a group PM but I don't think that worked-Ill text everyone too 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
