Lexinverts
Whoa!! An Mp-40 on that small tank? What % are you running it at?
matty
The lowest it goes, 1000 gph I think! It's funny, the Wp-10 I had would make sand dunes on setting 2, the Mp-40 doesn't move the sand but there is flow everywhere. Lexinverts
That is funny. It's kind of like driving a Ferrari to get from green to green on a golf course. LOL. But, whatever works. :-)
matty
I think it's the narrow flow of the Wp and the curved glass, and the Ferrari cost me $75! it's an older model lets say.
matty
I was messing around today and made a little false wall to hide the mess of wires.

matty
Finally my new light arrived and is on the tank! I also made a screen top and even managed to bend it to the lip of the biocube, this will be to keep an eel in, more about that later. Now to start stocking! matty
He's really cool, I'm very happy to have him. Robert (Reefit) gave me a great deal for such a well established healthy eel.

matty
Figured it might be time for an update! Tank is doing good except for an ongoing algae issue but with twice weekly water changes and the addition of a Tunze 9002 skimmer, it's subsiding. I lost one of my cardinals, he never really would eat like the other one despite offering quite the variety. I added a yellow coris wrasse to eat the few planaria I found cruising the glass, plus I have always liked them. Hobart the eel is doing well and continues to come out more and more. Here are a few crappy cell phone pics.

matty
I think I finally figured out that my rock is leaching phosphates. I added an IM desktop reactor running a small amount of GFO. These reactors are very well designed and are super easy to set, I'm hoping this helps get rid of my algae issue since twice weekly 5 gallon water changes weren't getting it. LadySaber
So the jebo rw4 didnt give enough flow? Im looking at getting it myself for my new nuvo 20 Edited April 18, 2015 by LadySaber
matty
No it was plenty of flow, a little much even. I did figure out later though that it was probably how I had it pointed. I think one would do great in your tank.

I hate that problem, lost allot of enjoyable reef time on that issue. Glad you are ahead of the curve and figured it out 10x faster than I did. Emerald525
I really like what you have done Matty! I was thinking when I finally do set up a tank it will probably be a biocube. I have always loved them. Yet they are a challenge to get enough flow and light to do sps. I was thinking just a zoa and softy tank. I like the idea of a small reactor and love the custom cover you put on it! You have done a great job! ???? keep me in mind when you want to upgrade and want to sell it????
