alittlemark
So my stainless steel clamps aren't as stainless as I hoped. I guess I didn't do enough reading before I initially set up with them. I now have 2 under the waterline that seem to be slowly dissolving. Do you think that the iron leeching into my tank is partially to blame for the cyanobacteria that I am seeing? Should I be worried about other stuff in the clamps leeching in? (I mean worried enough to rush home right now) Does anyone know where I can get plastic hose clamps without paying for shipping? wegotjs
You should have no metal in the tank.Even stainless.
Burningbaal
first: I would change it out, not sure if it will affect your cyano, but I wouldn't want that rust (and other oxides) running around in my water. I don't think it's enough to leave work for, but I'd get it swapped within a few days. but I'm not really an expert, mostly: if the corals are looking ok, I wouldn't freak out, but I would change it. my best recommendation for plastic clamps would be a hydroponic shop, they tend to have similar things as reef stuff (except the spectrum of the bulbs) and usually a lot cheaper, too! hopefully somebody can give you an actual place to buy them, you could also look for high-end stainless clamps. they'll be more durable (stiffer) than plastic ones and if you buy the high-quality stuff, it won't rust (cause there's no iron in it)
rgrcrain
What are you clamping? Use a ziptie if nothing else.

alittlemark
I have a hydroponics store close by, so I will check there. If that doesn't work, I will try the zip ties. I am working on two discharges from pumps, but they are barbed connections, and there can't be that much pressure. thanks
Barelycuda
Woody over at Seahorse Aquarium usually always has the plastic clamps
