drock59
Hey folks, I am looking for pump recommendations. The pump needs to be able to supply about 900-1000 gph to the display tank. It will be pushing water from my garage about 7 feet slightly uphill, then 5 feet straight up. 1" flex pvc. I am thinking a Mag drive 18 would suffice, but I am exploring other options including external pumps.
NoobtoSalt
I was using a gen-x 55hp on my 240 and worked great and seemed fairly quiet too. There are of course more expensive pumps then those but it worked good for me. The mag pumps are great as well.
drock59
Was thinking maybe this one too: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/panworld-50pxx-external-water-pump-1110gph.html Only uses 90 watts. The mag 18 uses 145. That is a big difference over the long haul. Although my sump will be in the basement and the Mag will provide some heat. The gen-x is about the same as the Mag: http://www.fishtanksdirect.com/pcx-55_pacific_coast.aspx
Saltfinsax
I have a Blueline that I got 3 years ago and just shut it down for the first time to clean it. Still looks real good for 3 years. It has allways had a hum to it so isent as quiet as they say but seems to be a nice pump.
drock59
Do you happen to have a link to what you are talking about? It will be in the garage so a little noise is ok.
sergebmw3
Pen world is a nice pump but check out what it's going to actually push after 7 ft cause the 1110 gph is at 0' Iam using a 3500gph and pushing 7 ft and Iam only pushing 1500 actual !! sergebmw3
Reeflo pumps if u are in the $$$ for it http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/reeflo-snapper-dart-hybrid-pump-2600-4300gph.html But at the same time of I were you I would look in to having 2 pump cause of one fails you always have a backup. drock59
The reeflo's provide WAY more flow than I need. I am looking for 1000gph to the display and a little bit for reactors and feeding a fuge.
