Googs
I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else. Seems very strange to me.
Burningbaal
I had a maroon clown that did the same to my muzzy mushrooms. I can't say they liked it (now that she's gone, they are much more open than before), but they did ok and the clown seemed to enjoy it...
ReefSafari
It seems pretty common, clowns don't seem to be the smartest fish on the block, I have seen them try and host Torch Corals, FrogSpawn, Toadstools, basically anything that even REMOTELY resembles an anemone...lol, I have seen tanks where thier has been an anemone in the tank and they still choose to host other things instead...I have a pair of clowns that within 10 minutes of putting a Torch Coral in the tank started trying to host it, meanwhile sitting only a foot away is a RBTA...(scratch)....lol(laugh) Gotta love clownfish!(clap) Actually rereading my post...it would be the clownfish that are being hosted right?..I always get that mixed up...but you get the idea... pnkrcklives
Clown fish are funny hence the name. I have had them host many corals. Even had them host spots in the sand bed, as well as power heads. They are more prone to do it when kept in pairs. Just watch what they are hosting as they can irritate some coral to the point of death.
Googs
The mushrooms used to care but now they never close up. One of the clowns sleeps under the open mushroom and uses it as a blanket. But about a year ago a hairy mushroom in my girlfriends tank ate her molly. I just keep expecting one day to have one less clown.
Blue Z Reef
Mine have hosted my giant leather toadstool, elegance coral, and finally seem to like my kenya tree lol. If you give them no anem to get in, they make due with what you have haha!
Googs
I gave them a green bubble tip nem but they had no interest. They are not the brightest pair, that's for sure.
NoobtoSalt
I was under the impression that the large hairy mushrooms are a form of anenome. Probably wrong on that one but either way my clowns are hosting my frogspawn at the moment. I can't imagine what would happen if I took it out of the tank...DOH! Derbird
My clown pair hosted a piece of live rock for a while. They now host my condy nem (scary). I wish they would go back to the rock.

It actually makes a lot of sense since Percs and occs. Don't host BTAs in the wild. To them a BTA is probably as different from a carpet nem as a torch. Now if they chose a torch over a carpet i would scratch my head. (scratch)
