akambience
I took out one of my powerheads to clean it, I used bleach and scrubbed it to get rid of the sponges and GHA. I let it dry out after extensive rinsing. It is still covered in Coralline algae and still has the marine smell. Question: Should I be concerned with putting it back in the tank with the (presumably) dead Coralline? will I trigger a mini cycle and if so how much? I was planning on adding two new fish today as well. Should I hold off or am I being too OCD? Thanks as always.

titus'reef
What I did with mine, is let it sock in vinegar for about a day and the coraline algae came off really easy. The powerhead looks like brand new now.

akambience
But do I HAVE to clean all the Coralline off before putting it back in?
markdadof2
No, you don't have to clean the coralline off before putting it back into the tank. I have done it in the past with no ill effects.
titus'reef
I didn't know the coralline algae will come off so easy after the vinegar bath, and since i saw it coming off i just cleaned the whole thing. I usually don't get the coralline off from the equipment.
MVPaquatics
Putting it back dirty would allow things to attach easier, making you clean it again sooner
