Electrokate
Hey Know some of you like me use tap water. I am just posting to let tap water users know Bull Run is offline this week, the city has switched to ground wells and from what I have read over the years those are not clean. They do have nitrate, phosphate, ibuprofen, industrial waste and whatnot. No idea if the dose of chloramine will be the same either, they boost the ammonia sometimes even with bull run, and the buffer dose will change. http://www.kgw.com/news/local/Portland-switches-to-backup-drinking-water-114003454.html So me I am not doing any water changes this week. Didn't want to anyways since I flooded the basement and standing on wet carpet is a total downer. No I still won't buy an RO unit. (: Kati Ani maybe. Harold B
To bad there isn't some kinda way to have updates to the forum on water notices like this one you have posted. Where did you find out about this just by checking a/thier website? Do you check it often?
newfisher
UPDATE: buy and use a RO/DI system from Air,Water and Ice (one of our sponsors) you will never have to check water board website's, question the health of your pets and you can drink it too! andy
+1 A decent RODI is the cost of a couple of nice frags and will do more to keep your tank healthy than at least three "what's the best salt?" swaps. Did you know that every time you do a water change with city water, an angel's tank gets a brown algae outbreak? True story.
Emerald525
Whole lotta ro/di peer pressure going on but I would agree it's worth it's weight in gold in protecting your precious corals.
