This is OUT OF BOUNDS!!!!

So how far exactly can we go "out of bounds"? Do we have to behave and not post anything off color? By asking, don't get the idea that I'm wanting to post pornographic pictures. Can we be potty mouths? Can we post links to items that are of a more adult nature but with a warning? For instance, some of the things that I find gut-busting hillarious involve some stronger language. Can we discuss topics that have the potential of being offensive to others? Such as politics, or even rants if something made someone angry and they wanted to vent and possibly commiserate with other like-minded individuals.

How do you guys want us to behave in "Out of Bounds"? I for one don't want to get axed from the boards for saying something that isn't within the guidelines of what is appropriate for this site. I also don't want to see others get the boot! The more the merrier is my motto! And I know the sponsors check out this site and I'm sure they might not be delighted if it becomes a "den of iniquity". Or a child asking his parent "What does (censored) mean?"

So just some quickie guidelines! Language, adult situations, pictures (drawings or real), humor, inflammatory debates... I'm sure I'm forgetting something. That and I'm sure everyone's starting to wonder what kind of freak I am by asking all this controversial stuff! rofl

I'm just trying to make our little internet home a happy place! :D

OK in Out of Bounds You can talk about anything or show anything that you would show/talk to your Grandma. Hows That? J/K

We can't show porn, or use extreme language, or anything else that someone might be offended by. Remember you might not be offened but someone else may be so we have to show restraint. WE DO HAVE SPONSORS AND WE ARE AN EDUCATIONAL N.P.O. We need to remember this. How much would it suck for our sponsors or potential sponsors to find a thread that they disapproved of and pull the sponsorship or tell us that they don't wish to do bussiness with us. Remember that we are trying to run this board with outside support too.

Religion and politics I believe can be talked about. There just has to be a point in a heated disscussion where one or both/all parties need to drop the subject before it goes way to far.

Just use common sence with all your threads/posts. Don't do something that you know is wrong or will be a trigger point for a bigger and meesier situation. We are all adults that can and should be able to police ourselves. We on the board don't want to be the bad guys and tell you whats right and whats wrong. But we will and we have to draw up some sort of guidelines. Along with that we have to have some form of warning system also. That will be coming soon I believe.

Talk about anything and everything but just be smart about it and think of others......I hate to sound all depressing and negative but I'm not trying to be. This board and it's forums are to be fun and informative and a place we can go to get away.

SO GO OUT THERE AND HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!! Thats an order....hehehe.

Hope that answers your questions.

Not negative or depressing at all. Fret not, little buddy! You answered my questions. I think the whole question came to light with me when Jay showed me the "Reef Monkey's" off topic forum. Holy cow!!! They are a bunch of naughty little puppies over there! rofl

Not that I personally have a problem with people cutting loose. I can't win with this thread... I'm either going to come across as a freak or a prude!

So I'm just going to have fun, try not to offend anyone. Sorry kids, no direct links to the "Naughty Hedgehogs" on RatherGood! Which is the other reason why I brought the subject up. One of the funniest things I've seen, but I'm sure it would offend some people. (agree)

And yeah, guidelines, punishment and mods are going to be a necessary evil. We're human. We make jokes and say silly things! Someone is going to have to whip a few of us into submission! (wife)

good clean fun

So trying to think of a good clean joke -- here we go'

This was harder than it looked - so I stole some

A Sunday School Teacher asked her class to write notes to God. Here are some of the notes that were turned in...

Dear God: I didn't think orange went with purple until I saw the sunset You made on Tuesday. That was cool!

Dear God: Instead of letting people die and having to make new ones, why don't You just keep the ones You have?

Dear God: Maybe Cain and Abel would not have killed each other so much if they had their own rooms. That's what my Mom did for me and my brother.

Dear God: If You watch me in church on Sunday, I'll show You my new shoes.

Dear God: I bet it is very hard for You to love all of everybody in the whole world. There are only 4 people in our family and I'm having a hard time loving all of them.

Dear God: In Sunday school they told us what You do. Who does it when You're on vacation?

Dear God: Are You really invisible or is it just a trick?

Dear God: Did You mean for the Giraffe to look like that or was it an accident?

Dear God: Who draws the lines around the countries?

Dear God: Did You really mean "do unto others as they do unto you? Because if You did, then I'm going to get my brother good.

Dear God: Thank You for the baby brother, but what I prayed for was a puppy.

Dear God: Please send me a pony. I never asked for anything before. You can look it up.

Dear God: I want to be just like my Daddy when I get big, but not with so much hair all over.

Dear God: You don't have to worry about me; I always look both ways.

Dear God: I think about You sometimes, even when I'm not praying.

Dear God: Of all the people who work for You I like Noah and David the best.

Dear God: My brother told me about being born, but it doesn't sound right. They're just kidding, aren't they?

Dear God: I would like to live 900 years just like the guy in the Bible.

Dear God: We read Thomas Edison made light. But in Sunday school they said You did it. So, I bet he stole Your idea.

(whistle) you got better?????????

I know its a fine line when I mentioned non paying members as allot of you including you reef165 contribute to the forums and to the vendors my apology's in that regard to you folks. And Ricks problem isn't with John its with me and maybe a few others lol but he needs to let it go or move on as far as I'm concerned.

Actually I don't have a problem with you or anyone else specifically. You've actually gained a lot of respect from me that didn't exist at one time although your attack directed toward non-paying members took me by surprise. Especially considering your position as I would expect sponsors and board members to set the example for others to follow. I do think you missed a thread I mentioned that was posted in general discussion that should have been in Out Of Bounds (You will find I asked in that thread why it was posted there). I am not referring to the same thread you mentioned. My comment was not meant to be snide but since it appeared it may look that way I removed it shortly after it was posted as it realy wasn't important. Regarding contributing I believe I do contribute, or at least I certainly try to. I know I've spent a great deal of money at many of the sponsors and I try to help here whenever I can. I've chosen specifically not to do so with a membership fee though because of a specific concern I have about an unwritten policy. Due to the nature of that concern I'll discuss it with John only as I respect him and believe he will look at it in a fair manner. If he can convince me that the concern is not valid I'll happily contribute with a membership fee in addition to the other contributions I try to make.

For everyone else I apologize for letting myself be lured into a discussion I do not wish to have here. If I've offended anyone I apologize as I certainly did not mean to.

Not sure what was said before and what the discussion was specifically about, but I know that I feel strongly about my past as a PNWMAS member, but nonpaying. I tried to be very active donating to several of the teacher tanks, helping redo lighting and filtration on Joel's tanks, holding fragfest meetings at my house, ect...I guess for me the main factor in not joining was the cost of the membership. I dont remember exactly how much it was, but I remember it seeming expensive to me. I am a paying member here in utah at WMAS, and their yearly cost is $24, thats $2/month, and its prorated if you join late in the year. I feel very strongly in saying that contributions to the club and the reefing community are much deeper than a membership fee, what you DO is much greater. I mean, honestly, how many of you use Reef Central? How many of you are paying members? How many of you feel that you contribute, or are very grateful for those that help you in a time of need or emergency? I know that I spent 8 hours of my Saturday this week helping a member here in Utah redo his plumbing, overflows, skimmer, and return pump. The purpose of the clubs and forums is community, and we need to remember that.

I dont feel its off topic. In a thread called' date=' "Out of Bounds" anything should go as long is it isn't vulgar or personal attacks. There is nothing wrong with a healthy discussion.[/quote']

No Curtis you misunderstood my post. When the forums were first set up. This 'stickied' thread was just telling people what this forum was for. Now it's 26-27 replys long and I don't know where it all got started. That's all I'm saying......
