Frogger
Ya, no kiddin. Actually, I just figured out that I have something better than a dehumidifier in my home...A heat exchanger. We rarely use it. I found out that you can hook it up to a humidistat and it is very efficient at removing humidity. Anyone have any experience with these? drock59
Updates? I am having a big problem with condensation on the windows dripping down onto the new hard wood floors....grrrr. Will a dehumid. help?
Nyles
I picked up chiefs dehumidifier and my windows are clear as glass now. I got a 20 liter per day it didn't do much, but the 50 liter per day worked much better but its really, really loud so be prepaired to find a place that you can live with the noise. so you know my house is 1100 sq ft and the tank is 155 gallon (give you an idea of my water problem)
drock59
Cool. Do you keep the dehumidifier in the same room as the tank or is out somewhere else?
Nyles
for now same room. I was running the 20 liter in the main bedroom, but ran without it and the 50 still keeps the rooms dry as long as you open the doors. Now I just need an outdoor humidity reader so I know when I can open the outside doors, even though thats not going to happen till i warms up. drock59
That my problem, if i could open the windows it would be fine. Obviously I will not be doing that until it gets warmer.
Nyles
There is one bonus, in my house the dehum combo'd with the tank keeps the house fairly warm all day... lol. Just need to fire up pellet stove 2-3 hours in the am to get it up to temp.
reefgeek84
I am glad I went with the 40 liter then...It is somewhat loud...but I only run it, when I am not home and while I am sleeping...so it works out fairly well...
Nyles
Ya I was very impressed with the bionaire 20, I could sleep with it in my bedroom right next to the bed, it was extremely quiet, it just didn't have the performance I needed with a fishtank. I returned it and they gave me my money back for the unit and shipping, how nice of them

nu2reef-n
I have a dehumidifier running 24/7, it's a 25 pinter. It pulls most all of the moisture out of the air, no problems with sweaty windows or mildew on the drapes. We've been using this unit for well over two years with no problems. Ronjunior
Does everyone who has this problem run MH's? Or is it single pane windows? I've got a 125g with 440w VHO 12hrs/day with no window moisture or mildue problems whatsoever! Just curiuos.
Frogger
I have a 100 with VHO's and didn't have the problem until I added another 100 setup with 250 mh's which made the double pane windows extremely wet.
Nyles
It all has to do with your evaporation of tank and airflow through house. If you have central air its less of a problem if you can cycle the air but I have a heat pump only so the same air is circulated and humidity stays inside, I am running t-5 with about 2 gallons evap a day into room.
