NoobtoSalt
So now that I've ordered this thing, is there any trick to hooking it up? I know you want to run something in the way of 30 gallons or so through it before you use the water, but are there any other tricks that I should know about? ReeFit
you will need to run the water and test the water until your TDS reads close to 0. it may be more than 30g or less. make sure all your fittings are screwed on really tight. it really sucks when one blows and water squirts everywhere, especially when your not in the house. NoobtoSalt
How are u testing it? A cup of water from the out take and the little tds meter that was hand held I bought awhile back.
ReeFit
The meters are very sensitive to even the slightest residue even on the cup. Make sure it flushes the cup continuously and take average readings from the center of the cup. I would try leaving the meter submerged the entire time too. I did that for about an hour more last night and still didn't change any. I started the unit about an hour ago and still getting really high readings. Maybe my meter is not working right? chewie
Use your meter to test a sample of "Aquafina" bottled water. It should read between 8 and 12TDS. If not, get an different meter.
