Algae
My CPR has got a build up of algae and cannot flow correctly. Need some kind of an overflow to use for a day while I cut a hole and patch my CPR. five four one 461-8743.
Algae
Things are OK. Actually my pump slowed down. Still have to pull the CPR and clean it, SOMEHOW. Can't really get anything inside it. I guess I''ll have to use a hole saw, clean the inside, then go back and patch it?
grassi
Hydrogen peroxide should do the trick. I hope this helps
Algae
Thanks Alex, but I got a lot of junk in there. I am going to need to physically remove the algae. It is a refugium. Can't think of another way than using a hole saw. The bends are just to sharp and protected/shrouded for a mini snake, I think. Hydrogen peroxide should do the trick. I hope this helps
grassi
I thought it was the overflow model, so using chemicals was a way to clean it. Try to write an email to cpr, maybe they have some secrets cleaning tips. I use to have a Cpr fuge with skimmer, but it was the large model, so it was pretty easy to clean. Algae
LOL. It is just the continuous siphon overflow. It HAS BECOME a 'fuge!
grassi
See, you got the fuge for free lol. So you mean that U shaped baffle... Soak it in some peroxide for a few seconds and shake it. It really should get rid of algae. Or soak it for some more time in a kalkwasser solution. The acid should dissolve them. You can also cut a stripe of sandpaper, about a foot long and 1/2 of an inch wide and clean at least the lower part of it. An air compressor will do the rest, hopefully. Algae
Don't think the sandpaper would work unless, maybe, I use my belt sander sandpaper (thick and flexible). I could possbly seal the intake of the overflow with dishrags and insert the air compressor nozzle. I doubt if that would be enough pressure (135lbs.). I have fuzzy tipped (forget scientific name) and hair algae growing. It is the fuzzy tipped that is going to be a job. See, you got the fuge for free lol. So you mean that U shaped baffle... Algae
OK, the reason I wasn't a science major (laugh) Neomeris sp. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/161/437287332_e29225ec44.jpg "Fuzzy tipped" it is pretty scientific to me lol
impur
Is the tube clogged or just a build up in the box?
Algae
The rectangular opening has a major clog. I raised my lights a few months ago and it allowed light penetration into the top of the siphon. Bingo, instant algae 'fuge!
impur
Ahh can't you just remove it and soak it in some vinegar? Algae just comes off after a good soak.
Algae
Would vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, or Kalwasser work faster? Ahh can't you just remove it and soak it in some vinegar? Algae just comes off after a good soak.
impur
If you soak it in pure vinegar you will be able to scrap everything off it in just an hour or 2. Muratic acid might work the fastest.
