Tat2d
I just set up my new tank with sand from Katz tank. I tested for ammonia yesterday, and it was at the top of the scale. My question is should I put some live rock in, or wait till this thing settles down. My guess is to wait, but I wanted to see what you all think. Thanks, B
Rick
Add it now. The faster it is added the faster the tank will finish it's initial cycle.
Rick
BTW, when you add the rock (or anything living) it starts a new cycle.
dsoz
Unless the rock is from an established tank and not allowed to dry enough for anything to die. Transport it in buckets of water for the best results. If you get "new" rock from the LFS, there very well can be a new cycle that goes along with the rock. The more rock you add, the less effect each new addition has to the nitrogen cycle because there is more bacteria to do their job. dsoz
Michael7979
Add your rock now. I totally agree.
7Max-GTE
Cloudiness will take a while to settle, rock or not, so it's better to get it all over with now. Also saves time like others said with the cycle.
