Aw, Stacy! Don't give up! I have uuuhhh....let me count....four, maybe five cats wandering around here in the jungle, and for the most part they leave the plants alone. I do have to protect the spider plants, but that's just because those give the kitties a "high" when they eat them.

I have a hoya that is just now setting buds...I can't wait until it blooms. My AV's took a pretty hard hit with the move, but they are bouncing back now...I propatate them so I have tons. My favorite is a mini trailer that is called "Rob's Gundaroo". He is almost always blooming, despite some abuse.

LOL....not exactly the "valley" people i meant...but it'll do! Actually to tell the truth i miss the rain and seeing the leaves change color! but planning on moving back that way possibly to lebanon or salem next spring so i can finish college.

See, once you get a little of that "valley" rain you crave it. (laugh)

We lived in Sisters for a couple years and when we moved to this area I was astounded by the amount of rain. Even though we both grew up in the Willamette Valley, living in Medford and then Sisters for a few years made us forget!

While the Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum) is on this list of poisonous housplants,

http://penmarric.ns.ca/catcare/usefulinfo/badplant.htm

and is even listed as a safe plant on these lists:

http://www.pets.ca/articles/article-catplants.htm

http://www.cfa.org/articles/plants.html (By the way, African Violets are considered "safe".)

With conflicting lists like this, just get some "Bitter Apple" http://www.bitterapple.com/ to spray on all your houseplant leaves. It tastes terrible and animals will not chew on it. Works great for keeping animals from chewing on their bandages too. You should be able to find it at most pet or feed stores or online.
