Helpful Links for the Hobby

CCR

Recommended Posts

I tried this before and it didn't go anywhere except down the dark hole. So I'm going to try only ONE more time. Almost ALL OF YOU have found a link to information.DIY, RO/DI hookup, fragging, water perimeters, on and on.

This is where I would like to see them all. It doesn't matter if it is duplicated by another. Lets just get er done. The board can organize them somehow so all will benefit. Maybe we already have this somewhere, but I haven't seen it. Even if there is I'm sure we could add to the information we ALL seek.

Your participation is greatly appreciated in advance.

I sure would like more education.

I think product review would be helpful too.

Remember all links and info are for information and it does not mean it is an exact science, or the only way to do something.

So lets get started!!!!!!!!!!

I have tons of good bookmarks and will get them up tommorow in the am sometime.

This is a link to make a refugium from a small 20 gallon long glass aquarium:

http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sumps/glass/

Here is a page for recipe for homemade food:

http://www.melevsreef.com/food.html

Actually this webpage has a whole wealth of information and I have been useing it for years for various projects. He is a very good do it yourself person and has amazing reef tanks. He also has many plans for sumps and refugiums as well as custom overflows and how to take good pictures, How to make phyto. The list just goes on and on:

Of course there is www.wetwebmedia.com a searchable database. Great for helping with tank problems.

More to come later.......

Links Section

Our Links section is gone after the website upgrade. I'm sure we can set it up again, and move the links there. Thanks for starting this Blaine.

Here is another one:

Recommended Minimum Drain / Overflow size

http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/drain.php

Keep in mind that rated GPH is going to be at 0 head height. Most of us will have head heights of 3 or 4 feet between the pump and the return in the tank.

Here is a head loss calculator as well:

http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/hlc2.php

If you can't find your pump then compare it to others in the list until you get close to the same GPH rating and use that one for the calculation. For the purpose of figuring the drain size error on the high side for GPH if you need to substitute another pump. I.E. If your pump is rated at 1050 GPH and you have an option between one that is 1000 and one that is 1100 then choose the latter. (Better to make the drain too large than too small)
