I inhereted this little tank. The bulb in front of it is 18" long and on there for reference.

I was thinking of using it as a photo tank. Thoughts?

I suspect the curved plastic will make getting decent photos tough. Worth a try though.

Just the corners are curved.

Good idea for some corals and such. Or fish that swim on the bottom like dragonettes and gobies.

If jsut the corners are curved then you're fine -- in the picture, it looks slightly bowed. Must be electrical interference from the little fluorescent tube ;)

I would think that tank would work out fine. You are just going to move pieces in there specifically for pic time?

so is it going to be used as a photo box or are you going to put items in it? I guess it will work for the small unattached stuff but the moving of them may cause them to close up. Just a thought. also remember if you use it to hold stock. try and keep temp the same and remember 02 levels will fall fast. I thought is was bowed at first look also(laugh)

Yeah its not bowed. I think its the crappy photographer who took it from a weird angle.

I plan to use water from the tank what ever specimen was in.

Smartass....

How does that go? ...better to be a smartass, than a dumbass?(naughty)(laugh)

I suppose to only real way to find out if the tank is photo-worthy is to try it out! We are looking forward to seeing what the results are.

You might go to Bi-Mart, get a clamp-on light fixture ($10.00), and a 55w circle fluorescent lamp ($22.00). Clamp the light to the back of the tank and point the light down. Adjust angles. Cover fixture with parachute nylon, if needed.
