B-E-A-utiful zoas! You have some very nice pieces, that is for sure. And yeah, you will certainly be getting a frag of the pinks. You're next in line. Roy gave me some great advice about using a dremel with a diamond bit/tip/thingy for fragging, too. So I'm ready to bust into some rock... well, once Jay tells me where the dremel is and I get the bit.

Once all my new additions are happy I'll get an updated shot of my zoanthid garden. It's starting to get pretty massive! (laugh)

A buddy of mine was fragging some and tried to just cut right through the middle of them and ended up spraying himself in the face. Kinda sucked. One of these days we need to have a workshop on fragging softies. The hard coral are easy in my opinion. Well, aside from the meat/donut corals and stuff. I don't know if you can frag them! Or brains! Course, I suppose you can frag anything if you set your mind to it! Oops! I dropped it! ;)

We will just wait until we have all had a bad day and take it out on some poor unsuspecting corals. I don't know if you can frag the brains with only one mouth. The closed brains Favia, Favites, Diplo and the like are quite easy to frag with the dremel. I always just score them with the dremel diamond wheel because they are usually quite thick and then take the hammer and chisel and finish it off. Acropora aren't nearly as stress relieving to frag they break to easy.(laugh)

You should try to separate those radioactive dragon eyes out from the others (green skirt w/really bright green center). I think the others are going to kill them off eventually.

You don't necessarily have to get an XTi. You can get the XT for a couple hundred cheaper or more and it would still be a great camera! And of course, you can come over and play with it Nyles! Jody, if I lived closer to Medford, you could pay me with zoanthids! (laugh)

Thanks for the comments on the pics! I'm so HAPPY to have a camera again. Well, I had the 1.9mp Nikon... but it pales in comparison to the new toy! :D

Ive got about 400 watts of T-5's over my 72 bow. Seems too do great with keeping colr, but stuff thats already browned out takes a bit longer to color up. I love my new zoos, BTW!

Back to life! I had zoapox to go along with my AEFW. All are fine and cured now so i took some pics while still in QT

Can't seem to catch color very well with phone. Will use Aquariscope and camera tonight or tomorrow morning in hopes of getting better pic's. Second pic was dubbed Blue Hornets from the guy I got them from. I have been looking and looking for these online and coralpedia AKA zoaid with no results. I have noticed that they are starting to turn purple in my tank. After doing a little reading on coralpedia I am starting to wonder....pay attention to third paragraph to see what I am talking about. I know you can't tell from the pic but they are identical to the pic's 4, 6, and 7. Here is link to artical

Eric those look like alien eyes and AOI. Did you get them from someone with an established colony? They are a caribbean zoas and everyone i've ever known that had them watched as they slowely melted away, including me. But if yours make it, i've got some purple deaths and nuclear greens we can make a trade ;)

Sweet. Thank you for assisting Twogirls. Yes I got them from established colony. You may be correct on the first one's. The second picture doesn't give any justice to the color. What I do know is that they were from indonesia. They were going to be listed as Blue Hornets, which I think hornet is a little used up at this point. What I do know is that the source I got them from has experienced a total loss due to heater malfunction 2 days ago which brought his temp up to 104, he lost almost all corals and all of his fish. Now he wants to buy some back....hmm. But again, the first pic IS from an established colony which he has had for over 2 years. Started, according to him, with about 25 and now has over 400. Again, all according to my source. I find it a tad odd to have 375+ grow in 2 years but I can't dispute as I don't know enough

They seem to be doing just fine in my tank though. Well so far anyway

I don't get the blue hornet rage, its retarded. In 8-12 months all the serious zoa collectors will have them and they'll be $5-10 per polyp like all the other fade named zoas. Just look at purple deaths and nuclear greens. A year ago they were 20-50 a polyp. I just put my colonies up for $5 per polyp.

Those are definately AOIs though, notice the skirt does not alternate colors. Plus i've had those before.

Oh you wont hear me argueing with you there. As I said I think the whole "hornet" thing is a little over blown. I do believe that rare or exotic corals and zoa's should carry a bit more value than the average run of the mill, I just can't get over the asking price of some zoa's. I will say that these are quite nice. They really command attention in my tank only second to one other zoa. Well, I guess third, Duncan's take the cake there. I ordered an underwater enclosure for my dig today so I should be able to get much better picture's here very shortly.

Its funny the zoas that get the most attention in my tank are the magician palys. A frag i paid $25 for. Put those next to purple hornets and i still think the magicians look cooler. But everyone has an eye for something different.

And i'm sure soon your zoa garden will rival mine! You have a great collection going.

I still want to trade for a couple of those alien eyes Eric!!

But i'm having trouble with them. They have shrunken and lost color. They don't extend their skirts so i donno what the deal is. I've dipped them in furan2 and they seem to be showing signs of life now.

Those are all hot! I really like the magicians aswell. To me they stand out more than some of the other LE polyps that are priced much higher.
