Here is a photo. It may be Malpigmentation?

Is it hosting a coral? sometimes they get black dots from the coral stings, ask Impur (or maybe it was Nyles???) It goes away after a little while as the fish gets used to the stings.

Not hosting. Typical tank-bred Clown. Hangs at top 1/3 of aquarium and away from all corals.

You see it rubbing up against any corals? Any change in behavior?

My clown had something similar when it began hosting a frogspawn coral. Stuck around for about 6 months then went away. Never saw change in behavior or feeding.

algae:
i honestly think that you do have black ich. as you can see from other's photos coral stings are much larger and what you have looks like clumps of very small black particles. treating black ich is similar to white spot, hyposalinity or copper, as far as i know.
