I finally figured out how to work my camera "correctly" and managed to take this.

now if only I can figure out the dang white balance I know in my camera, if you specify what the lighting conditions are that you're taking pics under or if you're using flash, changing that makes a difference. I do use Photoshop with my pics though. The only two things I usually ever do are "Adjust Levels" and "Sharpen Edges".

Those are sweet zoas! And that is a great picture! Keep practicing so that I can come to you and ask for pointers on how to take better pics! :D

If your camera can save in RAW mode, try that -- and use Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/) to edit and export the images to JPEG. That'll let you play with the white balance settings later in the workflow, much easier than messing with in-camera settings. Beware of auto white-balance settings on the camera, they often screw up...
