1 pink acro. unknown type. about 2"
1 unknown acro, very pale color. Large.

Yes! We will be using the Greenburg Oaks Community Center for our next meeting and election on 4/23/06, so we will have lots of light and room on the tables for the frag exchange.
Anyone that can - bring a frag or two of sps, lps, softies, or whatever, it should be a great exchange. According to posts, people also seem to be looking for Chaetomorpha, Caulerpa, Stomatella snails, pods, etc., so let's not limit exchanges to coral frags.

Is anyone else bringing frags? Please let's get some trading material listed!
I do not have much in the way of livestock to trade at this time, but I have accumulated a few powerheads, heaters, air pumps, etc. that I could trade. I'm also willing to buy frags if necessary. Looking mostly for lps and soft corals. I have pc lighting, but did manage some slow growth of sps with it. (Any donations of your excess xenia, gsp, shrooms and zoas gladly excepted! :) )

I'll have some birdsnest frags that I can bring.
John Maybe I might have a loose shroom or two that I'll bring if I can.

John, we can bring you some xenia, gsp, I have a ton of the brown zoas, we can frag some colt for you too, even. I think that covers all of our softies that are growing like frickin' weeds! Let Jay or I know what you'd like! If there's any interest, we can bring some of that stuff for others to trade with us. Jay would know more of what we have to offer in colored sticks. He's the one that sticks his hand into the tank and breaks them all the time. DOH!

What John doesn't want, let me take a crack at! John, of course, gets first dibs after his unfortunate moving accident. sad
And amazingly enough... Jay didn't break any more than what was intended when he put his hands in the tank tonight. It's a miracle! ;)

Dave, I'll take some macro too finally
Hey, I have some stuff to trade from the school tanks. I have macro, both chaeto and the fernish type (have heard it called parrot grass?) 2 types of star polyps. One is green with neon centers and the other is brown with neon centers. I have brown xenia, toadstool leathers, anthelia, mushrooms and fuzzy mushrooms. I will not bring all this stuff to the meeting but if someone wants to trade for something send me a reply and I will make a goody bag. We are looking for sponges, (any type), sps and lps corals and anything else that might interest middle schoolers.
Big Dave

rmhuntley - I would like a frag of your green skirt/blueish ring/green center zoos. Also the orange skirt ones.
Jay - if I could get a little chunk of xenia and GSP that would be great. Is your frog the branching type? If so, I would like a piece of that.
Ahbrit - do you have a pic of the Bali Xenia? I might want some of that too.
Here's what I have...
- red w/ blue dot shrooms
- green/ white speckled zoos
- yellow/white zoos (bad pic but you get the idea)
Not much yet as I'm just getting my tank going again. I'm sure this sounds weird but if somebody is brave enpough to dig up some bristle worms I need some. Also some macro (cheato) would be great. I'm also looking for green/purple rim monti cap. Thanks guys! Let me know if you're interested!

Hey Brit, what do you want for the xenia, unknown acro, and pink acro? I've retried to ID the frags that I do have, and this time I do believe it's a blue acropora subulata. I've got 2 frags mounted and ready to go.

SO ALL OF THE GUYS THAT TOOK FRAGS OF THE BLUE "TENIUS," IMPUR, LOWMAN, AND R3, I think it's a subulata. You guys might want to try to ID it yourselfs as well. Let me know how well those frags are doing.

Hmm interesting. I hadn't tried to ID it yet. In my tank its purple. Fast grower too, it encrusted in a week and has new branches shooting up all over it. I mounted it horizontally instead of vertical. Worked pretty good.

Hello,
Intro: My name is Bryan. I'm new to the reef scene with my five-week-old aquarium. You can read my aquarium's journal here (http://natureboyaquarium.blogspot.com/).
There's nothing like a frag swap to bring out the newbies, right? My ammonia, nitrite and nitrate have been stable at unreadable levels for about two weeks.
So far I only have a few snails and blue-legged hermits. So, I'm basically wondering if it's worth coming to a frag swap, since I don't have any frags to swap. I could always trade cash, right?
I'd like to have a predominantly stony coral tank, and follow the stocking order recommended by Eric Borneman in Reefkeeping Magazine (http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-01/eb/index.php). Here's a list of beginner stony corals that have caught my eye: Frogspawn, Candy Cane, hammer coral, Favites, Platygyra, Montipora (branching or encrusting), and Galaxea.
I'm also looking for two scarlet hermit crabs.
I know it's late, but do you think it's worth coming out? Would anyone have anything on my wishlist?
Palani
04-23-2006, 08:37 AM
Yes it is deffinatly worth coming out. You might want to only get some hardy ones (corals) for today, but at least you'll meet people that could be potential traders. Not to mention that they will be giving away frag door prizes. What type of lighting do you have? What is the size of your tank? As for livestock I would start with some softes first (and MAYBE some LPS) and take it slow.
I think I might have some stuff for sale for you. I've got a green candy cane that's making a third head as we speak. I've also got a favia that is red with light green centers. It's about the size of your fist. I've also got a frag of an umbrella coral. Just PM me if you are interested.

Yes come to the meeting.
Come on out Bryan. You wont regret it. Later Ryan

04-23-2006, 09:40 AM
Okay, you've all convinced me to come. I've been lurking for months and it'll be nice to meet people.
I've got a 24 gallon aquapod (cube) with 120 watts PC lighting (I modified the hood). As far as filtration, I've just got a fuge in the back with live rock rubble and hair algae growing. I would like to get some chaeto. My plan for good water quality is just to keep up on large water changes. So far, water changes have been a breeze with a 5 gallon bucket.
My main concern with softies is that they can chemically outcompete the stony corals and in a small tank like mine it won't take much to get a high concentration. So, I wouldn't be opposed to a benign softy.
See you soon!
Palani
04-23-2006, 10:06 AM
Well true dat (about the softies with the stonies). I've also got some chaeto. I'll PM you.
