Anybody know how to properly dispse of old VHO bulbs? I could smash them in my garbage but that does seem like the right thing to do.

fluorescent tubes can contain mercury so I wouldn't smash them unless they are enclosed in a container of some sort... In general they are accepted in dumpsters and landfills but you're supposed to recyle them...

or implode, even...:) And for what it's worth, you are probably breathing mercury vapor when they blow. Something like 25 milligrams in each bulb. HID bulbs contain mercury, too. And incandescent bulbs contain lead. Great, huh?

I was trying to find my link...

MMMMMMMMM mercury laugh

I don't go breathe gas that escape. I'm usually 5-10 feet away :D

And that was back when i was working at my parents store, i'd just toss em in the dumpster.

Years ago I worked repairing computer monitors for engineering workstations. Most of the units that came through needed new tubes, since they had suffered phosphor burn-in. We'd save them up all week then spend a chunk of Friday afternoon hurling them into the crusher seeking the perfect >CRASH<>FOOMF<

Good times :D
