Dim's are 60L X 32D X 28H w/ external overflowThe acrylic is all 1 inch with 1/2 inch radius corners. The corners and the bottom edge are highly polished( Bling! Bling).(popcorn)

Hey Shannon,
Not doing acros at this point, but Jon is trying to get me started again. I have a pair of Cardinals in the brew and hopefuly they will start to breed in 6 months. Going softies and LPS for the moment. Not sure if I will get back into full SPS again. Took down all my MH for now. Just have VHO on the tank. Oh, it's Mt. Biking season. :)

180Brandy,

I'll build the metal stand Thursday and then ship it to my stand guy. He'll then make a wrap to go around it. It will be a while for an update.

Dsoz,

After it up and running, we can work something out I'm sure.

I built the metal stand last Thursday. I'll take it to get powder coated Monday morning. The stand was made out of 1 3/4 .120 wall steel. I wanted it adjustable so I made the stand in two pieces, the top frame has 1 3/4 tubes running down for the legs, the bottom frame has 1 1/2 square tube running up. Then the two pieces slide together. This also makes it ajustable so I can get it level. Also I welded nuts so I can lock everything in place....

The sump is built and the stand and canopy will be done at the end of this month. But the biggest part of this build got finished this last weekend. The ELECTRICAL!!! YEA!!!. Thanks to Barelycuda and Evansbr the 100 amp service is in and ready to add outlets. Here's some pic's. Oh and if someone is looking for a home in the area....I know where one is,LOL(laugh)

Very nice Shannon.

Out of curiousity, why did you run a 100 amp sub-panel rather than a couple of 20 amp circuits? 2 lengths of 12-3 with ground (giving you 80 amps of circuits total) would have been much cheaper than 1-3 with ground+a subpanel...

Just wondering if there was a reasoning that I'm missing.

If you want help with anything, let me know.

I needed to run some 240 volt and I need more than two 20amp curcuit's. With the amount of power I need to run this system it was cost effective to run a 100 amp service. I would have been a little nervous with two 20amp circuits, I have a feeling those wires would have been running a little hot!

Thanks for offering to help...I'll keep ya in mind:D

Sol
08-21-2007, 01:02 PM
Fair enough. 2 12-3 with ground would have been four circuits though, not 2. In 12-3 w/ ground, you have 2 hots, a neutral, and a ground. The two circuits each use one of the hots, and they share the neutral. So 2 runs of that, would be 4 X 20 amp circuits. The 240 volts makes sense though. You using 240 V ballasts, or what?

-Sol

08-21-2007, 01:33 PM
Yea....4 400watt 240 volt ballast...

Barelycuda
08-21-2007, 05:08 PM
After the intial walk thru with shannon we were thinking 4-6 circuits plus by the time you run that many wires 125' you are better running a sub-panel. Local access to the breakers & the ability to load the circuits as light as you want.

Hey Shannon you probably have ballast already, but I have some icecap used 400w 240v ballasts for cheap, if nothing else it might make good backup ballasts. I also have a bluewave dual 400w 240v new but cheap (sunlight wanted to ditch it, so i got it cheap)

The sump room floor is foam anti fatigue squares. The foam squares have been cut to drop the 3/4X 24inch hardwood planks in to support the sump and sump stand.

Shannon,

Looks amazing!!! I have to suggest that you use glass on the Lumen Max 2's. The smooth material (Alanod Miro 7) stains over time with saltwater splash... Using glass may cut down ever so slightly on the output, but a stained reflector is much worse. Glass can be cleaned... :)

WAVES
05-07-2008, 12:37 PM
The glass is seperate, they run like $12-14 each retail.

Looks good Shannon,, are you going to leave the back open so you can access that strainer for cleaning? Im sure it wouldnt have to be done very often, but you wont want to move all your rock and corals to get to it. On that big of a tank it seems like its going to be pretty tough to get to it when the time comes, can you reach that from a stool?

What are you going to do for rocks? I hope you'll get some 50 pound plus pieces it would look sweet with some biggies in there.

reefhut
05-07-2008, 04:43 PM
I don't plan on cleaning the intake screen. It will be buried in rock. I think that the pendants should come with glass (IMO) for the price. Other companies (in that price range) include glass with there pendants. I havent called Sam yet, but I'll get it work out some how. My bad though, for not looking into it a little futher. It should have dawned on me that a little water splash can crack a bulb and distroy my hole tank because UV nukeing my corals..DOH!

SamatSLS
05-08-2008, 08:53 AM
We include glass on all double-ended fixtures (like the Lumen Max 3) for obvious UV reasons, but not many people run glass on mogul pendants, so we don't. I was just giving you friendly advice about using glass to make the reflector last longer. If it was my tank, I would. That's all I was sayin'...

The brand new Lumen Max's use the dimpled material throughout. Therefore the staining is an issue of the past.

I'm very curious to know what other companies include glass on mogul pendants in this price range? or any price range?

-Sam
