Old Sand New Fuge

Ten gallon Fuge
I’m plumbing in another 10G refugium. Right now it’s not flowing water but it’s filled and I’m bringing it up to temp and SG. I have a bucket of once live sand, 10 pounds or so that I wish to add. Do I need to do anything to the sand before I add it to the fuge? I guess I’m concerned about the possibility of a harsh cycle?

Rinse it and use it. Letting it cycle is better than using it without rinsing it.
