View Full Version : Dislodged zoos...how to fix?

We picked up a frag of zoos yesterday that were attached to something that was apparently living (looked like some kind of bivalve??). It moved off the rock and left our zoos just flopping around. How can we get them anchored again? The part that came loose is the right side (probably about 3 or 4 heads) at the base where they attach to the rock. Can these be glued or do we need to try something else (like putting them in a lower flow area in the ref?)??

glue. I would pull the frag out, pull out a piece of LRR, dry LRR where you are going to glue it. Put a dab of glue on LRR, dab on frag, stick and twist. Let sit for about 10 sec, dip in water, review work, place back into tank.

Sweet! I was worried about the glue hurting the little buggers. But if that'll work, that's what I'll do. Thanks!

well I mean yeah...try not to get glue on the head of the zoa but it should be fine. But taking them out of the water and all will get them to close completely...usually....and it makes it easier...you should have brought it over with you I would have done it for ya.

I really should have! I just didn't realize it was as big an issue as it was until I was vegging out in front of the tank this evening. heh

well it isn't that big of an issue....I have had frags drifting around my tank for weeks at a time...they would settle somewhere and open for a day or two then a fish would swim by and knock them loose again and they would go adrift.

but it does reduce the risk of loss of frag and such by re-glueing it down

I'll get them out and glue them down tomorrow. It may just work out that we'll have two separate frags now. Darn. (whistle)

Well, you know, if we bring you part of it, we'll have an empty spot that some Duncans would probably LOVE to inhabit.........hehehe

lol....I just really want to get some good pic's of my corals and son. I get quite irritated with the P&S's

Completely understandable. My wife does free-lance photography and of course, the point and shoots do absolutely nothing for her. I got her this for her birthday a couple of years ago and now she's ready to step up to a "pro" camera. Silly thing has more bells and whistles than Darth Vader's bathroom, but luckily, I'll still be able to focus it and push the button for what I want. heh We'll probably pick that up this week (tomorrow or Friday?), so let me know when you want to get together. I'll even bring her with me this time so we can work out a trade. :)

Friday or Sat would work....feel free to pick up a new camera and bring old one with you....does it come with the additional lenses? What about tripod?
