View Full Version : What T5s would you combine with a pair of 250w MH's?

Got a new sunsupply combo light 48" and am wondering what you think the best light would be for my mixed reef? I have acans, frogspawn, chalice, zoas, trumpets, leathers, gsp's, mushrooms, xenias. I thought a reefblue actinic would just pop out my colors and help my corals? What would you do?

what color temp are your halides?
I have 20k's and I will soon be running geissmann actinic+. they are a very blue bulb and seem to make my corals pop well. In combo with the 20k radiums it should have a strong blue

I dont have much experiance with the t5's but have read that the purple ones add a very nice light and have shown very good colloration in corals. Maybe one of those and an actinic?

It's a 10k. Now I know why they have a UV protective glass!! I burnt me and my corals. I kept the light off today. woke up this morning and my monti is white!! My trumpets are mad and my face is red. I hung the light lastnight and left the glass out cause I don't have the actinic lights yet and thought that it would be ok. I had a metal halide light, 400 w 14k single hood on it and it didn't have any glass on it so? I thought that this would be ok. Well half my face is burnt and my corals are pissed!! I hope they survive!! So, back to my question? Should I get a reefblue actinic?

I would use the Giesemann Pure actinics or the Actinic plus. With 10k bulbs, you're going to want the blue.

Totally!! Thanks buddy!! Oh, and I don't do credit cards at all!! Since I paid all my credit off!! I do have a pre-paid and that is what I will put the money on and send via paypal for my entry fee!! I worked all day and couldn't put the money on it in time!! I will for sure tomorrow!! Sorry!!

No worries you still have time. I am going to post up one more thread here regarding the distribution of the frags and who is getting them for others to pick up from.
