Yes means unique
No means their own.
Sorry I am retarded and set up options in a dumb way

I think we should all have the same plugs. I also would like the frags to come mounted and would be nice if they were almost healed so there is no chance of them going nipples north as soon as we get them home...my 2 cents but doesnt really matter much to me. Either way.

Jay, that too is my goal. I am working hard at getting this colony quickly, considering throwing a frag party to get this started.

transportation has been an issue all the way around. Let's hope that we get this started and all the difficulties stop there.
It does not state anywhere in the rules about frag plugs. I was just going to take it off any plug and glue it somewhere in my tank...
Is there a way to get "unmounted" frags so people can do what they want with them?

that's my issue. I was going to mount it directly to something but once again. I don't care. I'm getting the plugs so but I need to know really soon so we can coordinate something.

you know to be honest I am fine with no plugs. What I am worried about is if someone already has a bunch of these and just glues next to that. OR takes some of those and glues next to competition pieces.

I have some already but you can tell the difference between new baby polyps and giant and ones that have just been glued on. I think so anyway.

That is true.

Recent research at GARF supports early observations that Zoanthids are able to extract some minerals from the substrate they are growing on. We have noticed for several years that when we plant Zoanthids on fresh aragonite they grow much better than identical colonies that are growing on inert substrate.

I read that too. Nice thanks for sharing.

no worries. I am starting to think that no plugs might be ok. After all if we can't trust the contestants then what is the point right? Plugs wouldn't stop cheating anyway, you can still glue onto them.

My original thought was plugs too but I am thinking we should skip it unless it is necessary to get them onto something to transport.

This is a "for fun" contest in my opinion. I think we are all adults (well....I THINK) and can act accordingly and not cheat.

I am in agreement. IF THIS BECOMES A PROBLEM WE WILL REQUIRE PLUGS IN FUTURE COMPETITIONS.

It trust all of you except for the enemy that lives under the same roof as I do.

Really now? considering the only thing I can super glue is my finger to the rock, I don't think you should worry.

ok so I will hold off on the plug deal and if we need them in the next round eric, I'll be glad to provide them.

Yes please do. I think this may allow more flexibility with placement and provide the zoa's better places to gain nutrition. hmm......maybe I should just say everyone but me uses plugs...(scratch). I really like that first chalice and if you guys saw the Acan's and stuff. Man. Plus there is a mystery coral out there. Hasn't been listed but we nor the LFS knew what it is but it is nice. I am waiting for pic's of the remaining pieces to post in the sign up thread for everyone to see.

My only concern is that I've never had any success getting fresh frags to stay glued to anything....ever. I'd really prefer that they come on plugs since the point of this competition is to see how identical frags do in different systems.....not who has the most talent at mounting frags.

The way I'm looking at this is, the way we mount frags can be just as unique as the lighting, filtration, or any other thing we do to convince these corals to grow so honestly I do think it may have to do with who has the most talent at mounting.

13 to 6 but I think the question was confusing. Should I repost or are we in agreement that no plugs are required for this round?

Well, the competition frag is going in my display tank so, I dont think I would want it on any sort of plug for aesthetic purposes. Mounted on a small piece of rock (that could be standard) would work. But this may be easier to institute in future competitions.

yea lets just go with no plugs unless it is necessary to get it onto something to get it to the person.

I agree that it might be better having it mounted on a piece of ruble. I like that idea

At least 4 or 5 of us voted yes but would have voted the opposite after we understood it better. I would say that once those votes are moved over that more people would rather have no plugs. Might be interesting just to see what everyone does just for the mounting.

You have a point. There are ways to mount zoas too to get them to take off a little faster.
