I found this guy on the glass in my refugium. It's not a nudibrach, and has a probiscus like a nassarius snail. But it has all of these spiky things on it. I've never seen one of these before. Maybe you guys can help..........
Does it have a shell? Can you get a picture of the dorsal side and another from the side. Maybe one head-on.

It would be difficult to get those pics. My refugium is under the monstousity of tank. It has a mouth like a snail and moves like one. I've just never seen one with the spiky back before. And now it has disappeared into the rock and macro.

Are the spikes hard or soft?
No idea really but hope to find out.

Could be some kind of stomatela, but I'v never seen one with spikes on the shell like that.

Money Cowries, Cypraea moneta dont have spikes on their shells.

When they are mowing down algaes they often have a mantel that sort of shrouds their shell. This has small spike like soft protrusions all over it. The shell that you see and that is posted in the picture is when their shells are fully exposed. Most of the time this is when they are at rest. Intersting little guys.
